My Site just had jumped from PR 4 to PR 7 (lasted 20 days) and now back to PR 5
has this happened to anyone? No changes in Ranking, just PR
I see that some other sites have been affected. I see that even some top 10 sites have right now a PR of 0
Any advise?

its still changing!!!
Not mine, but I am lookign at different competitors, and some are going up and some down.
I want to see the result when this settles

Look at your inbound backlinks!!

From most site I can see, that they have dropped to the bottom.
In the travel industry you find top sites with a backlink popularity of 100?
thats Crazy!!!

I haven't seen much change in my pagerank, but my rankings dropped dramatically. I've had excellent rankings in Google since July 2003 and they just disappeared. I had a page go from number 1 to number 45! This also happened to another site that I work on. Is this normal for the Google Dance?

They also updated backward links.
Mine came up to 55 from 14.

Sorry I probably sound dumb but:
I see that someone said "I haven't seen much change in my pagerank, but my rankings dropped dramatically."
I thought rankings were the same as pagerank.
What is the difference?
How can I check my pagerank?
Thanks.

Hmm this is an odd update. I have lost 22 backlinks (when using link:www.domain.co.uk) which still remain visable when using @www.domain.co.uk.

I am seeing similar results across about 5 of my other domains too sad

One of my company domains (used in form submission for secure transactions) has lost 917 backlinks (from link: to @domain)!

underrated, PR is googles own measure of a pages importance.
You need to install the Google toobar to see it.

It May be a factor but is not the listed results on Google.

Don't think of "PR" or "Page Rank" as the ranking of your site in Google. Think of it as "Popularity Rating", basically calculated by the number (and the PR) of other sites linking to you.

It's much more complicated than that simple explanation wink, but that is basically it. PR (Page Rank) is just one of many, many criteria that Googles uses to determine a site's position in the search results for any particular search phrase.

My 4 weeks old website PR went from 0 to 5. But it is not rank for any keyword yet, except its own name.

This is a stange update, all the main sites in my area including myself were pr4 two months ago and now they are all pr5, its almost as if google has just taken a proper look at us and decided we need to have a rank increase. So those of us who link to each other all benefit with higher page rank.

I have my first PR7 site, but don't know why. smile Not many backlinks at all, but what it has are organic, although average PR - none above a 6 and mostly 3-4 (a couple of 5's and a couple of 6's). I have a feeling it will go back down very soon. (It has been a PR6 for about 8 months; before that fluctuating between 4 and 5 for a year or so.)

I just changed a site (converted from php to html), 1300 pages, many of which just jumped from PR0 to PR4 (the front page has been PR5 for an age) but I expect that will drop as they are all 'new' pages.

Made no difference to actual ranking on its keywords though.

just realised why my and similar sites have risen in pr, the dmoz page we were on has risen to a pr6 from a pr5 thus dragging us all up a pr point.

I had four sites move from PR 5 to PR 6, with higher PR propogating throughout the site. Interesting thing is that in all cases there was absolutely no change in my SERP results on all key words. The SERP result pages are exactly the same as they were before. I gained 0 additional traffic in any of the sites in going from PR5 to PR6.

Yeah, PR is just one of many criteria, which is why you shouldn't obsess about it.

For months my site had at least 3 keywords in the top 10 on Google. I use an optimizer to assist me. I changed from text links to a DHTML drop menu at the same time that Google was changing something, according to my SE news, and ALL of my keywords disappeared from the top 30! I thought that perhaps it was due to the fact of the navigation change on my end, so I went back to mostly text, but still cannot get it back to any top 30 ranking on Google.

So no, it isn't just you all that it has happened to.
