JimWorld Forums: Why am I PR so badly with this search term

Hi there,

I seriously cannot understand why my website PR is quite bad with a particular
search term (on Google),,, if anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it.

My website is www.AccommodationMozambique.co.za and when I go to Google and type in the term "Accommodation Mozambique" in the search box ... I PR on the second page... but what I can't understand is why I PR on pages 25 and up, when I type in "Mozambique Accommodation" in Googles search box.

Why is there such a big difference?
... My PR It shouldn't differ that much should it? Besides, I see websites which are hardly revelant to Mozambique, who propogate before me (when using the search term "Mozambique Accommodation"wink.

It almost like I am sandboxed with that specific search term?
Have I done something wrong with my meta tags or keywording on my homepage?
Any idea's or mistakes you can spot?

PLEASE NOTE: I have just changed my meta tags on my website back to the old meta tags which seemed to have worked better. - I doubt google has crawled my website to see the new meta tags yet. Never the less ... the old or new meta tags had the same effect with the search term "Mozambique Accommodation"

Thanks I appreciate your time smile ... I am just "lost" at this point.

Dale.

Google treats the terms completely independently; it may be that there's much more competition for "Mozambique Accommodation" than "Accommodation Mozambique".

I trust you were searching for each without the ""?

There's many, many possible reasons why your site does not do better, from the overcrowded front page to the the number of incoming links.

You certainly need to review every link in your extensive links section - reciprocals go bad and can bite you if not monitored frequently.

Hi, thanks for your input!
Yes, I do do the search without the "".

I do know that inbound links are important but like you say ... you don't want inbound links from a site that Google does not like.
Difficult to know what sites are good or bad.

What do you think of the all the sites on my LINKS section? Dodgy or not?
- thats if you got time to look.
(although don't look at the SOUTH AFRICAN page: http://www.accommodationmozambique.co.za/south_africa_links.htm .... those are links to other websites I have made)

Ok, I do understand that Google treats each search term individually - so there will be different PR for each, but the difference in my case between "accommodation mozambique" and "mozambique accommodation" is like 20 pages. I'm almost convinced that my site has been "sandboxed" for that specific search term:
"mozambique accommodation"

Is this possible?

I mean look at this ... I type in "mozambique accommodation" in Google and even this forum topic of mine that I have created "Why am I PR so badly with this search term" ranks before my actual website, on page 10!!
I see my site on page 16 which has improved a little (I think this was because of my meta tag change I did the other day)

Anyhow, 16th page is not good!

Hmmmm what to do next? ... I think I need more inbound links... will this solve my issue?

Anyway thanks guys for your time ... appreciate it bigtime!

If the site has shown that it *can* rank well, thenadjusting for different search terms is more about the text on the page; Google can only work with what you give them.

You need to check those links; follow each one, and check the quality and relevance of the sites. Then do it again in a few weeks time. Your site's success is 100% dependent on choices you make. So be ruthless - your site is worth it, isn't it?

I just checked and your site is not ranking #1 for your business name--not by page 4. this is usually a sign of a penalty because you should rank #1 when those words are in your domain name.

You mentioned you are linking to other sites you made. Google could consider these sites a net work. You might try removing those links to your other site and remove any links to this site from your other sites and see if that helps.

Also you have the word mozambique and accomodation peppered throughout your home page. This could be considered spammy and you could be filtered out of results for this reason. You don't need to over do either word due to those being in your domain name. If you did this to try and increase ranking then the problem lies elsewhere.

also you have wayyyyyy too much info on your home page watering down your major keywords.

" you should rank #1 when those words are in your domain name " thats not completely true it can give some scores for seo but having the keywords in the domain does not guarantee #1 ranking

True, #1 rank for the domain name is not guaranteed but it is one sign of a healthy site. Sometimes competitors have the same business name. When I don't see it #1 then I start looking for what's causing the slippage.
