Hi,
I've got a button that is in GIF form. I need to know the exact color (RGB, or CMYK, etc.) Normally all I do, is use the eyedropper, and that tells me the color. In this case, when I go over it with the eyedropper it shows it as "no color" (the white with the red slash)... I've tried everything. Does anyone know how I can determine the exact color spec of a gif (solid color) image in this situation?

Try opening the pic in Photoshop - convert to RGB and then use the eyedropper. HTH

 Don't have Photoshop. I did try doing the convert in Illustrator and it didn't work. Any other ideas?

that is what I would do as I don't know illustrator!... is it because the colour is indexed.

philh is helping me out... which is totally awesome!
If anyone knows how this can be done within Illustrator... that would help anyone that should stumble on this post down the road.
I also have Corel Draw -- don't laugh... so if it is possible with that... I'm game!

Here's the secret:
To sample a color in Illustrator, hold down the shift key while using the eyedropper.
With the shift key down, the eyedropper works like it does in photoshop.
Without the shift, the eyedropper transfers attributes. Double click on the eyedropper and you can select the attributes to transfer.
