An old one this one - my client (a small shop) keen to include nice large shop pics on webpage(s). I have put photo on Welcome page [please see url in my profile] I am concerned that download speed on 56k can be 20-30secs. Am I worrying too much? - will people be put off or will they see the shop and feel safe/secure that is 'real'? Miam.

You should probably use smaller(faster-loading) images on the main page and, if necessary, link to the larger photos so those who wish to see them can click on them.

Your shop file size is 61k
I was able to reduce the size to 39k without quality loss with the optimisation tool I am using in photoshop.

The other way to go would be to reduce the physical size by cropping some of the height out so the image focuses more on the products and not the space of the actual shop.

Letme start off by first saying WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

Second, I would probably siggest that you link to a photo of the shop from a smaller thumbnail seeing as how the photo is burried all the way down at the bottom of the page and isn't necesarily the "centerpiece" of the site.

However, if you decide to use the picture, I tweaked the color balance on it and optimized it (a little on the fuzzy end but it's 28k so don't complain wink )

I hope this helps!

If you really want to show a large image of the shop, use a thumbnail. I am sad to say that where I live, there is not high speed Internet, and I need to use a 56k modem, that usually runs around 36-50k, depending on the time of day. Most people surfing the net, or shopping will not want to wait 20-30 seconds for page to load, I know I wouldn't.
