I was reading a wonderful post the other day in another forum about the creation and usage of Favicons. For those of you who don't know what it is, you can see one when you save a site like pandia in your favorites, a little icon is placed next to it.
Most sites do not use this free brandin technique, which makes it even more effective. Plus it is real simple to add to your site, especially if you have photoshop; www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials/jennifer/favicon.html
Even if you don't have photoshop, you can use tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/ and icofx.xhost.ro
Most of you probabily knew about this, but it came as a surprise to me how easy, cheap it is. And as far as I am concerned easy+cheap+free+good=website gold

I'm a big fan of these.
Just pull together an icon sized item - say 25x25 pixels or so.
Same it to the root of your server and change the file extension from whatever it is (gif, jpg, psd, png, etc) to .ico and you should be good to go - if I recall the extension properly.
