When fresh bot comes around you will notice in the search engine results pages (serps) that you will have a date after the url.

That date is when you're pages where last picked up and added to the index by fresh bot.

I am completely new to all this but I have been using the google dance tool at www.google-dance.com. The thing is that the dance is said to start when there are differences between the three results. My website uses my name charles linden, when I put this in the googledance tool it produces differing results. Can anyone please explain why this is if the dance hasn't started? Thanks.

The guideline that is generally used is the differences in the number of backlinks to yahoo.com

To check this use this in the search box...

links:www.yahoo.com

Make sure you select horizontal display and normal rather than condensed display. You should then see each of the www's showing a certain number of backlinks for yahoo.com.

When these numbers are different, the dance is on.

That link is just a reference. As soon as backward links in general begin to change from data center to data center, the dance has begun. To be specific, when you notice a difference between backward links to www.google.com, www2.google.com and www3.google.com then it has started. Currenly they are at 692,000.

The actual text to drop in the search box is singular as follows, not plural:

link:www.yahoo.com
