Certainly not worried! smile I am pleased - It means a site that first went live on Sunday is now listed and I am getting results. Mind you it was linked to from one of my extrememly busy sites which is what brought it in there.

Do freshbot-only crawls actually show up in the SERPs, even before "The Reindexing"?

It certainly looks that way. Like I said, my domain only went live on Sunday eve and registered exactly 7 days ago. I am already receiving an appreciable amount of traffic from google.

car nut your site will proberly drop out of the index some time. Ive never come accross a site to be in the index of google properly within a few days. Ive had sites that have been crawled by Freshbot and indexed for a couple of days at a time but for consistant results youll have to wait a couple of months really.

For the last year I have averaged 40 Freshbot hits a month and practically everyday at least once. I haven't been hit since March 31. Is this a bad thing?

I typed the keyword : "world" on google-dance
I get 150 000 000 results for www2
and i get 149 000 000 results for www.google.com

Does that means the dance has started , or does it just some fluctation before the real dance like a pre-dance phenomena

mymiss, google results always fluctuate so you will often see a variance in the number of results for a search term. It is only when the backlinks change, that the dance has started.

Backlinks would be the # of sites linking back to your site.

You can type (without the quotes) "links to: MYURL.com" in the Google text field and see how many sites link to you.

Stu-N.

I believe the way to check your backward links is to use the following in the google search box without the quotes.

"link:www.myurl.com"

I had never tried the one you suggested until now, but it does return a different number of results. It seems to be running an actual search as opposed to checking for backward links.

Everyone seems very interesting in the DANCE. For those who are currently get #1 ranking in SERPS they might say "Whatever! Don't Care Much...."

If their ranking is drop after the dance, they would probably say "What's Up! Oh My..."

You seem to have misunderstood my post. I was explaining that the way Stu-N suggested to check for backward links as follows: "links to: MYURL.com" seems to perform a search as opposed to checking backward links.

I also suggested that I believed the proper way to do this was by using the following: "link:www.myurl.com". The reason for this post was to assist mymiss with a previous question that I felt may have been answered incorrectly.

OK, the dance is now late. Remember last year, about this time? Google went for two months without an index update. smile

Stirring the nerves up a little OAC?

Actually, I don't remember it that way ... two months without an update ... but here were the dates to refresh your memory.

Feb 20, 2002
April 6, 2002
April 25, 2002
May 24, 2002

It was a strange cycle when they did not update in March 2002 ... but they turned around and had one of their quickest updates ever (2 in april with only a 19 day spread)

The last update started March 7, 2003 ... and I would think it would be at least within the next two weeks... but then again at the beginning of this post I said it would start two weeks ago ...
