applied321, I'm sorry you aren't getting the answers you want to hear.
The reality is that there are two ways to respond to a post like this...
1.) Trash Google
2.) Accept that they are doign what they can
Trashing companies never leads to anything getting accomplished. It may relieve frustrations, but trashing usually leads to bashing, which leads to flaming, which gets nasty fast.
Accepting that folks are doing what they can means that you move on and learn how to best work in the environment that you're given to work in. RIght now, anyone who wants to practice SEO/SEM has to deal with the spam in Google.
So, those of us who are trying to optimize sites live with it. We do the best that we can for the sites we work on and we accept that sometimes the cheaters will get ahead of us. But we also realize that in time, the cheaters will get caught and our sites will move ahead.
It's not about sucking up to GOogle, it's about accepting the reality of the world and the limitations that we have to live with.
Now, if you have a solution to this dilemma, we would honestly love to hear it. We can debate and discuss and theorize all you want, but bashing and wanting everyone to agree with that bashing doesn't get anywhere.

Not sure what you're getting at Muffin, are you saying that they are spamming google?
thejenn, are you saying that google is doing all that it can? you don't think that trashing google will get anywhere, perhaps not but if public opinion is more realistic then it might make a difference.
I personally believe they are not putting enough resources into fighting spam in order to give webmasters a fair deal. I don't think they will change unless they are put under pressure.
If Google are really considering listing on the stockmarket then they will be very sensitive to bad publicity, just look at how quickly any problem that gets mentioned in the press gets fixed.
I say let the truth come out.

lol
aspxsoftware.com is not spamming at all. They have a PR3 and nothing on their page except scripts and bullshit, the search phrase appears only once in the title... and they are still #6 in more than 400 000 results
lol
Very interesting
About the active spam fighting, I don't think this can be done without punishing many sites that do not intend to spam at all. When I created one of my sites and then checked it, the keywords and keyphrases density was huge - without whatever intension to spam, this was just natural.
Then I used html entities to reduce the number of keywors Google can see in the source but to keep them on the pages.

Aspxsoftware.com is not spamming in my opinion. It is a site under construction. It is pretty common to include gibberish as a place holder where the final content will appear. The gibberish here has no relationship to the key word and no attempt has been made to hide it.
In reality this may be the exception that proves the rule, i.e., all the guidelines on how to make the top ten on your key word don’t always work. For some, a single key word in the title is all that is needed. Some may also call it simple dumb luck.
My experience on Google responding to spam complaints has been mixed, but they have responded. One company for my key word had six of the top ten spots using different domain names pointing to the same page. It took Google a while, but after about nine months this company has no listings in the top ten.

The January Index is in progress and I see lot of hidden text and keyword stuffed sites up in top 10. Hope the filters are applied to keep the spamming sites out of top ranks.

Suggest report them. It would be nice if Google would respond and level the playing field.
