Yahoooo! I got my rank back! I went from page 10 to page 1, site #4. Anyone else's rank improved? I guess I shouldn't celebrate too much. Things could change again. I "de-optimized" my site a bit by removing a few keywords and changed some alt tags. I wonder if that did the trick?

Finally they have come to there senses. Pre over 200 sites all in the top 3 positions for thier main, most competitive keywords. Completely out the door in the Florida update. But I see they have at least toned down the power of the filter, from Average search position of 146 sites main keywords:
Pre Florida 1.34
Florida 563
Post Florida 8.24
Thank god!
Please let this sitck.
PS -asdfasf to the search and they are again all back pre - florida.
This is what was intended by Google all along and I'm quite sure the original filter was out just to feel the vibs out here. I'll take 6,7,8,9,10,11,.... positions anytime ranther than the 20 page, right next to Orville Redenbacher popcorn factory

Nothing to do with de-optimization google has relaxed the filter. Hopefully they will continue in this direction and rid the entire index of the filter. Interestingly enough the scrooge website has been shut down.

Well, I am not quite sure about the Google has relaxed the filter. After I de-optimized my site, my site is back to number 1 from completely dropped from Google for that search term.

I have two phrases that pull in a lot of targeted traffic.
Phrase 1: Extremely well targeted
Pre-florida: position 1 & 2
florida update: not in the top 1000
today: position 6
Phrase 2: Very well targeted
Pre-florida: position 8
florida update: not in the top 1000
today: position 68
I haven’t done anything to de-optimize for these phrases. I left it alone and figured it would fix itself. Looks like this is probably balancing itself out.
On another note, I saw something earlier that I'm not seeing right now. It was three results at the top of the page, not adwords, under the heading PRODUCT SEARCH, with another link below them that said something like "more products like these on froogle"

> Interestingly enough the scrooge website has been shut down.
All of Google's data centers returned a "Forbidden" for Scroogle on the entire Class C where Scroogle resides, beginning last night.
But we were back up in a few hours, by redirecting the screen scraper to a different server with a different IP address. No telling how long it will last.
We are a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization with a long history of social criticism. Our screen scraping is clearly within the "fair use" provisions of the Copyright Act. We're not making a dime off of it, the traffic we handle is trivial compared to Google's 250 million searches a day, and we're trying to demonstrate our criticism of Google's recent filtering fiasco.
U.S. laws trump Google's Terms of Service. Google is within their rights to block us, and we are also within our rights to circumvent any such blocking. I wish Google would grow up. They don't dare litigate our screen scraping, so we have to play blocking games with them.

You know (Scroogle), I understand that .org's register .org so that people associate them with organizations instead of commercial entities.
But it would seem to me that they could at least register the .com (even if they don't use it) so that pornographers don't buy up the names and direct people to pornography who aren't even looking for it.

All we did was remove some alt tags that were keyword-rich. We used to be number 1, with florida we were completely gone, now we're suddenly #7. Only one other similar company ahead of us, the rest are directories so I'm happy with our position. I hope it holds! *keeping fingers crossed*

So what is up with this suddem emphasis on directories anyway? What is it about directories that Google suddenly likes so much?
And gazibidian, are you taking this to mean that alt tags were the problem? are you seeing this on www, www2, www3, etc?
Thanks.
