Hi All,
I want to submit my site to an important direcory and it could be added to one of 2 categories - both are equally relevant. I can't decide which is best based on relvance because of this so I am going to base my decision on PR passed onto my site. One category has PR5 and one has PR6. Before you say PR6, consider this: the category with PR6 has around 300 sites listed while the PR5 has around 70 sites listed.
So I was wondering which category would help me more for Google positions. As I understand it, plotting PR against number of incomming links gives you a graph that is probably almost exponential. Because of this could you guys give me a little help with my decision? Thanks.

Do the math Zinger 1/300th of 6 or 1/70th of 5.

Both categories would be about the same, since 70 outgoing links is still to high to pass a PR5 on to your site.
But, with theming becoming more important, I wouldn't be that worried about PR. It's just important to get into the proper category--and since you've got that nailed, then there's nothing to worry about. Besides, you could end up in both places.

Thanks Bhartzer.
CZ, I don't think you can calculate the value of PR that simply.

PR5 Site, like bhartzer said the PR won't pass either way. Get into the category with the least amount of sites and have a higher chance of getting some traffic from the directory.

Zinger, cz's calculation is more or less accurate. Its certainly about as accurate as you're going to get.

Isnt PR logarithmic
In which case CZ's calc is too simple
the following is not intended to replicate PR as I am not sure exactly how it is calculated. it is only intended to show that the calculation is probably quite a bit more complicated
Say an increase of one pr is a ten fold increase
and assume pr 1 = 1
Therefore: pr2 = 10, pr3 = 100 pr 4 = 1000 pr5 = 10,000 pr 6 = 100,000
1/300 of 6(100,000) =~ 333 pr points
1/70 of 5(10,000) =~ 142 pr point
therefore the pr6 is worth twice as much as the pr 5.
Of course I could be wrong

Well you could be right, but I wouldn't think so. I could get any calculation that could prove either link to be of more worth. Let's use the exponential e (~2.718) since e is related to logarithems.
If you take PR to be e^(PR-1) then the PR5 site is better. I could prove a PR1 with 50 sites on it is worth more than a PR6 site if we take simple sums like that.
