Hello.
I have a site that is ranked #1 in Yahoo and not even ranked in Google under the keyphrase rap beats. I used to be on the first page before the horrible Florida incident. Now I can't even find myself in the top 500. I've heard that it has a lot to do with backlinks and PR. My site only has a PR of 3. One of the weird things is that the #1 site in Google has a PR of 0/10. I'm just learning about this stuff and would appreciate it if somebody could look at the site in my profile and let me know what they think. I gotta get back on top in Google, any help is highy appreciated.

Josh

Have you carried out all of the stuff that has been mentioned in all the previous threads in the last few months here?

Yeah, I've been doing what I understand I should do. I thought if somebody that had more experience looked at the site in my profile they could find some glaring weakness right off the bat. I was on the first page in Google and now I'm gone! I have 2 sites that point to each other, could that be a penalty that is killing me, or is it more links? Keyword density? Too many keywords, could that be a penalty? Just trying to learn with the pros around here.
Thanks.

don't crosslink if you have low pagerank and only a few links from other sites. I suspect that might be an issue since you only have a PR3. Build more quality links, inlcuding your keywords within the link text, from other sites.

#1 site in Google has a PR of 0/10

That is PR in the toolbar, and maybe google's actual PR for the page may differ. If it is truly a PR0, a top ranking won't last. The toolbar PR is not in sync with actual PR, so it can be misleading to go by the toolbar.

Thanks Logan!
The weird thing is that my other site has a PR5 and its not in the top 100 either. Doesn't that reflect that the crosslinking wouldn't matter. I'm pretty sure I crosslinked after Florida too...

Both my sites are from the same ip and with the same host though... Is that a no no with Google? Some of the sites that are on top with my keyphrase are posts from forums or garbage pages.

It just looks so easy to get back onto the first page again I must be doing something totally wrong. What else could it be?

I had a PR5 not even in the SERPS (top 1000). But doing very good in Yahoo!

Not unusual... Google has a different algo, that's the way it is.
Now I'm trying to put up several on-topic inbound links to it, hope that helps.

That's what I believe in at the moment!

Atleast that the key is in the inbound linking

Yeah thats what I've been doing too.
Thanks for the input.
I'm also going to try removing cross linking of my 2 sites and see if that helps.
Thanks again.
Josh
