Hello,
Google-bombing has been quite a bit in the news lately ... I'm thinking of doing something similar, but not for any nefarious purposes. Basically, I'm looking to improve my rank for a particular keyword.
I'm wondering the following, though:
1. Will the font size of the text I'm linked back to effect the results? Like, if it's Arial 8 will that be less effective than say Arial 8?
2. Does it have to be the exact same link?
For example, if various people are linking to my site as:
<a href=http://gracessite.com/1>keyword</a>
<a href=http://gracessite.com/2>keyword</a>
Will it affect my ranking for "keyword" at gracessite.com ?
What if it were:
<a href=http://gracessite.com?1>keyword</a>
<a href=http://gracessite.com?2>keyword</a>
Sorry if these are novice questions ...
Thanks
Grace

I got curious.... Turns out that a bunch of bloggers/webmasters etc decide to have anchor text pointed to a specific site. The reference I read about was John Kerry term Waffles. Having enough text links "waffles" pointed to Kerry's site drives his relevance for the term up so that when you enter waffles in a search engine Kerry's site will be at the top (at least that's the goal).

Sorry gracetempleton. (For staeling the thread and not helping) Maybe some-one else will kick in but my impression is that font size, style have no impact although weight may (bold)

Hi Scott, no apology necessary! It was a relavent and intelligent question.
Anyway, I haven't seen any definite answers on this yet. Thanks for your advice about font size. Interesting about weight ...
Now, I remember a really old SE spammer trick used to be to put in major repetition of a word in a tiny or invisible font ... However, I know this eventually started getting penalized in certain engines.
The debate continues. Anyone out there know for sure?

Most see phrases like "french military victories" and "miserable failure" (search these without the "" in google) as a bit of fun. However I don't believe you will get much constructive response because what you are doing is generally seen as SPAM.
Aside from that, the size and face do not matter, as long as they're all pointing to the same site. Just out of curiosity - how are you going to get hundreds of bloggers to link to your site?

EyesCoffee "how are you going to get hundreds of bloggers to link to your site?" pause... with the known effect (now, thanks gracetempleton) of "Google Bombing" it may take a couple o bucks to get this.
gracetempleton I'm just saying this about anchor text as I'm about 30% through the ISEDB directories and have visited a bunch of links places and have seen features like quick review, guaranteed inclusion, top o the list, bold text etc. but I've never seen font size or style. I will go out on a limb (no data) and say H1 will help. (It'd be tough to prove otherwise any way).
But then again, I could be wrong.

P.S. "When I search these without the "" in google as a bit of fun" I type in miserable failures and the #1 response is a previous well known (thanks again gracetempleton) "Google Bomb" Thanks Eyes Coffe I'm PM'ing gracetempleton now!

An alternative perspective on the effect of google bombing
As eyescoffee said, manipulating your links as you described is against google's general guidelines. Is there a non-evil google bomb?
My answers to your questions
1. No - font size isn't going to play a role
2. No it does not have to be the exact same link. But incorporating the targeted keywords within is important. Variations can still produce the same results. Blueberry Waffles, Whole Grain Waffles, etc.. What's important is to have more 'waffles' overall than any other url.
