I was researching adding the google search to my website as a better Search Engine than my home made one.
On googles own page (http://www.google.com/services/customsitesearch.html)
it says this about the search feature.
Frequency and depth of index
Google's Custom SiteSearch means that the pages you wish indexed from your website are crawled and indexed. Crawls can occur daily or weekly, depending on your frequency of updates.
Does that mean i could be spidered more frequently and speed up my optimize/ and then wait periods? Is anyone doing this?

Using this on your site will have not effect on your site's rank on Google's organic SERPs. Don't get this search service confused with the results that appear when you do a search on www.google.com.
You will be spidered frequently, but the results that are displayed only appear on the searches done on your site.

When they first came out with the Google search appliance, people thought they could reverse-engineer it somehow as to reveal the Google algorithm. People tried it, but they never really found out anything.
