Hi,
i'm new in this forum and i speak only little english.. 
I have a friend that he has a website (italy), that it regards hotel...
He has gone to a expert of webposition and they said him that they can make him on first position on google for 4,500 Euro with keyword "hotel rimini"....
And they assure the first position..
But... it is possible???
And what method they used????
I've started to study webposition about a 2 month ago....
And I ask myself:
How they make to guarantee the first position?
What method they used?
Cloacking? Doorway? What???

You will have to ask them what methods they use and then check if those methods will get the site banned in the long term.
If they say they guarantee results, then I guess they probably don't use traditional "ethical" optimisation.
Check too, which search engine they are talking about.
But it could be a play on words. It might not be for left side rankings at all. Maybe they use some of the money to pay for an advert on the right side of the Google listings.

For them to say they Guarantee first position, that seems a little ballsy to me. I would be worried that they have some sort of "black hat" techniques they plan to use. Not sure I would trust them entirely

I would say, ask them what method they will use. If they are using doorway etc then stay away from them.
BTW, it is possible to achive #1 position for that keyword term and their quotation looks reasonable. Don't pay more than 50% upfront.

#1 organic is a goal which as dinkar said can be reached.
#1 in ppc just costs money and easy to achieve. jmho

It is way to expensive!!!
The competition is there, but it is "not that hard" to reach a top 5 position there.
I deal with more competitive keywords related to hotels and resorts in Mexico, and I have achieved top rankings in most mexico destinations naturaly by just having good information.
Everything I learned I learned here in jimworld!!!
If you want PM me the name of the site and I will help him get top ranking for free!!! I'll do it just for the fun of it

Actually vanachte, offers like the one made by gotohollywood isn't uncommon. Over the years, I've done that myself. Of course I'm not a professional SEO, but never the less, it does my heart good to see such an offer made by gotohollywood.

SEO work is fun and that is what it should be.
Of course not to do websites for free, but to help a fellow webmaster in a time of need.

Companies or individuals using the tired old "Guarantee Top 10" or "Guarantee #1 for widget" are just using this tactic to get stressed out business owners to take the bait so that one of their "ex-car sales persons now selling Internet services gone really bad" can go for the close...no matter what the cost to the quality of the SERPs or the user experience..
It's just high sales volume tactics...the old numbers game

Totally right about that. There are so many out there, and I bet you 50% or more are incompetent people just trying to make a quick buck.
I have been doing this for sometime, but if you were to ask me who is for real, I would only be able to give you a handful of suggestions. It seems that for in the last months, Flaky SEO companies that offer ridiculous guarantees are showing up everywhere like pop-up ads
