Doorway pages are one of the backhat technique. Doorway page is created as optimized for a specific keyword to rank better on search engines for that keyword. If a visitor clicks on doorway page from search results, SERPs, on a search engine they are redirected to another page on the main website using .htaccess or similar technologies

My sites are composed entirely of doorway pages. Just not spam ones.

Sure Hampstead. We all have sites comprising entirely of "doorway" pages going by this definition - "Doorway page is created as optimized for a specific keyword". Only thing is they are not spammy ones or we wouldn't be here this long.

Regardless of the place from where you posted Hampstead, your post summed up an element of wisdom - that people often mistake buzz words.
Things like door way pages, cloaking and other "deprecated" terms are not necessarily evil by themselves. It is how you do it and why you do it.

Incorrect:
A page created only for the search engines which has very little use to human visitors and which redirects the user to the pertinent content.
Correct:
A page written for the human user, optimised in accordance with current SEO thinking and avoiding any techniques considered to be "black hat".
