Can anybody help me? Up until a few weeks ago, one of my sites, www.northeastcars.info had a PR of 4. Now it has gone to 0 and isn't even indexed to Google. As far as I know I haven't done anything wrong. Help!Kieron

I can only speculate, there isn't much to look at.Did you do some updates? Your html is hosed up. You have 2 opening html tags, this could have ended your spidering right there. Also, you have some text that matches your background color. They may have run a spam filter that thought you had invisible text. Usually we hear from more people when a cleaning filter goes though, but it is a possible cause for your problems.

Did you ever used webpositiongold or any such software to check your ranking? Your site has only 5 backlinks in msn. So that may be the reason.

Hi, thanks for your replies.Yes I know my HTML is a bit messed up, but it always has been. I've had two opening head tags since day one (sloppy, I know). Also, I do update the site regularly, but not by much. It's an interesting point about the text being the same as the background colour. Even though the white text is on a purple background, can this still cause problems? It's not as if I'm trying to mask it on purpose. I haven't really tried to get any recipricol links as I've never had the time. Would Google penalise me for this? And kick me out of the index? Surely not? Any more comments are most welcome. Thanks, Kieron

I looked at your page and the Google toolbar said "Current page is not ranked by Google" which isn't the same as having a PR0.It's possible that your site wasn't accessable last time the Google spider paid you a visit so it might think your site no longer exists. Get some more inbound links sorted out and wait for the next update. Hopefully you'll be back in the index then.

I had the same thing happen to a bunch of my sites, they all say the same thing. The grey bar shows them as not being currently ranked by google. They were in until this last update. I am not sure why they were dropped but the server was always up.

The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I had been on page 1 for my main keyword phrase for 2 years and boom! I was gone! It felt like the floor fell out from under me. My site also disappeared from all my other keywords as well. It was horrible. Then on the next crawl I reappeared on page 5, then on page 2 and now after this month's crawl I am on page 22! Google has gone insane! There are tons of sites with a lower PR than mine ranking ahead of me and lots of spammy and Chinese and Russian language sites in the top 10. I just take a deep breath and keep optimizing and know that in a few weeks everything will change again, hopefully for the better. Thankfully, I rank very well on all the other engines. I know how you feel..but this too will pass and you will probably be right back where you were before on the next crawl. Like I said..Google has gone insane, especially these past few months.

Can anyone tell me if this statement by 'muttleee' above is accurate?'... the Google toolbar said "Current page is not ranked by Google" which isn't the same as having a PR0.' I read elsewhere that a PR0 indicates a penalty has been imposed? Is this accurate? Any documentation regarding this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

""Current page is not ranked by Google" which isn't the same as having a PR0."Correct "a PR0 indicates a penalty has been imposed? Is this accurate?" Not necessarily. It could just be that the page has a PR of less than 1. OTOH, if a home page previously had a PR of say, 4, and it suddenly got a PR of 0, this would indicate a penalty. Howevr, there could be other causes of the PR falling to 0 eg if the site only had one inbound link from DMOZ and that link was removed from both DMOZ and the Google directory, then the PR would collapse. Confused? That is what Google intends
