Does anyone have an easy method to stop hotlinking from auction site users? It doesn't occur very often but when it does, it is extremely irritating.

Hotlinking to images from your server? What kind of server. On Unix you can use htaccess [this thread explains it].

Like crash says, htaccess is definitely the way to go.

Htaccess Disable Hotlinking Code Generator can be found at http://www.htmlbasix.com/disablehotlinking.shtml

It also has more info on .htaccess and hotlinking generally.

If your hosting account has it, you can also activate it directly from cPanel.

If you use Front Page and disable hotlinking with .htaccess you may have problems accessing the site for editing. If you do, just remove the hotlinking code from .htaccess and replace it when you finish editing.

http://www.deuceofclubs.com/switcheroo/ tells you how you can have fun with hotlinkers by changing file names. It's about 18 pages long but some of it is pretty funny.
