We have lakhs of profiles and we generated xml and a preview page (how that xml file looks in the webmasters site)for each caste subcaste in India. Now, the problem is, For some caste., there wont be profiles, and so the content will just show like : no content in this page at present, please come again later.
In total there are 55000 pages., were for around 8000 Pages there wont be any content.
Iam now thinking of doing a 302 redirect to a temporary page (which will show, there is no content at present for this page) for all these not found pages because in future, there may be content added in that page .,
Is this alowed?.

For someone not familiar with Hindi, 'lakh' means 100,000.
I am a little confused though about the question. What is allowed ? From the search engine point of view ?
About the 302 - Temporary redirection , there seems to be a bit of divided opinion. I see quite a number of directories using 302 redirection to point to the link from their listings. Most of their pages have been regularly crawled by the major engines with little consequences.

Sorry for being unclear and thanks for your reply prowler.,
yeah, i asked from an SE point of view.,
Iam thinking of doing a 302 temporary redirection to a page which says "content does not exisit" for all the urls which does not have any content for some caste and religion pages at present (content may come here when an user adds his profile to a particular caste or religion)
