Has anyone ever seen a message that says "access denied, ftp error occured, check permission settings"?

I also can't see any of the files in the files pane of dreamweaver on the remote side. Any ideas? Can't upload of download, though have a connection with the host.

Thanks

It looks like your FTP client (dreamweaver or whatever you use to access the FTP server) is trying to access a "wrong" directory. That explains why you can't see any files at the remote end. It is much easier to navigate through your directory hierarchy by starting at the root "/".
