Also, pertaining to this
"didn't you even look into the .zips, and see the readmes and TOS statements?"
Did you not open and review each template? Granted a bit of a pain but most necessary as you never know what you will find in there. I know someone was thoughtful enough to go through and strip things like readme files and other information, however they (and you) were not through enough. JimWorlds data is still in the source.

Hi,
All the template info has been removed from topsurfer. Again I apologize for my stupidity.
It was several months ago and I will see If I can find the ebay auction info.

I actually did turn other template packages away but once again because how the auction was handled and the links that the person gave me where to download them directly from Jimworld. I assumed he had the right to offer them to me. In hind site, I can see how I should have been less trusting.

I am currently out of town and will notify my members of the cituation in a few days when I get back.

Thanks for your understanding and again I apologize.

Thanks,

Stan

He sold you links to individual templates? What happened to the zip file?

In the processing of downloading them from JimWorld did you not think to check out the the site you were downloading from and perhaps notice that they are offered for free? It's pretty obvious. Soo you paid for something you could have taken for free. (Though not for resell)

You knew you were downloading templates from JimWorld from the very beginning !?! I mean really, come on, right there, big flag. You didn't see this..

This brings back an earlier question, one I was willing to give that you may not have been the culprit.

I don't believe you. Your own story doesn't jive.

If you downloaded the files directly from JimWorld then you are the one that stripped the files (poorly I might ad).

Sorry to be so harsh but if you are for real you are lacking basic common sense. I just can't believe you are that dense nor that you think we are.

Hmm,
'spose he paid about 10 dollars for the unlimited rights to all the templates :-0 and he now can't find any documentation or proof that this was the case, even though if it's a legit business purchase you'd certainly print hard copys of any transactions for your records.

This reminds me of when someone ripped a load of images off one of my websites and then claimed to have brought them through ebay as 'clipart' for 10 dollars, then surprise surprise lost all the documentation for the sale ...
sounds fishy to me, you'd have checked the content out before offering them out if you're putting your 'companys name' to it, and then at the very least got an email confirmation from the webmaster at Jimworld saying you had the right to use them in this way, that's just common sense??, this guy is supposedly the head of a graphic design company and is expecting you to believe that he's made a stupid mistake so you don't sue him??
At the very least he's been grossly negligent.

Oh sometimes old forum posts are excellent. Glad to find this one & TopSurfer is being removed as a link on the one website directory I did list them on.

As the phrase goes: "Shame on you."

So much for benefit of the doubt in regards to business ethics. I believe absolutely nobody who really cared about their business or customers, clients and/or website users would ever offer products (including free templates) that were not thorougly researched prior to offering. This of COURSE includes opening zip file(s) *duh*, whether it be one or a few hundred.

Verbal communications, cordial emails & niceties only go so far. Undisputable proof is the only (legal) way to CYA.

(this obviously steams me, too)
