Expanding on that, you could issue a new code every 10 minutes and allow the current and two previous codes to be acceptable. Part of the CAPTCHA robustness though is that you only get "one guess" per code.
I don't like the idea of the codes expiring. What happens to your post then? Does it not go thru if the code's not valid at the time? Does one lose their post and the time they put into composing it?
I'm the type who may be multi-tasking and might work on something else and not get back to a post I was writing for a while. You know, real life stuff like answering the phone, taking a stale air break or whatever.
I'm not entirely convinced that using a post verification will help stop spamming seeing as one has to be registered to post.
From what I can tell, most of the spammers here are not bots. Many are "outsourced marketers" from countries like India and China who get paid to spam forums all day. Others are just drive-bys out to promote their own agenda. CAPTCHA will not really stop them.

JQ is right they arent bots they just try to promote themself , and i dont think any codes would stop them really except maybe use some codes that stops people from posting if their posts contains link words

That's pretty much what I said.
How about for newly registered users, a message in the editing screen telling them that they may not use links until their posting count equals ten without any moderator intervention.
They could also b warned that self promo will result in a ban at this point.
New members could also be pre-moderated for the first 2 or 3 posts with he ability to issue an instant ban - even if it goes into quarantine for a second opinion.

I am not in favour of "you can post links after 10 posts" as we generally encourage that no links are posted at all, even after 1000 posts.
There is already a "no links or promo" warning right by the "post message" button.
I already delete a dozen or more posts and ban several drive-by and/or self-promo spammers nearly every day. We need to find a way that those posts do not get posted here in the first place.

But what about the times a URL is needed? such as when people ask for specific software links, directories links etc. If a non URL script was added then even these would not be possible...

Don't underestimate the bot problem. It is very real. I've seen blogs hit especially hard with submission bot spam. It's only a matter of time before this forum get inundated with webmaster-type crafted bot spam.
