Hey everyone,
Someone offered to buy my website off me earlier today, I have no idea how to go about getting the money and not being ripped off.
The payment will be >$5000, and the potential buyer seems to really want to use PayPal. I have had a bad experience with PayPal before (account limited+money held) so don't really want to go that route.
Does anyone have any advice for how I can sell my site without being ripped off? (I have head of people having payments & cheques reversed after a week)
Thanks guys

Where are you located and where is the buyer? If you are in different countries, that may affect your options. I'm guessing you're not in the US because of how you spelled "cheques".
I would be leery of using Paypal for that kind of sum as well.

Go with escrow. It's a safer option to both of you.

www.escrow.com is one of the most popular if not the most popular and trusted services.

Escrow isn't cheap - but once you are dealing with a stranger in the thousands, it's the only way to be sure.

Else use MoneyBookers.com to accept payment. There is no chargeback.

Thanks for your advice guys. Still trying to figure out a payment method (but it looks like some sort of escrow service is going to be involved)

Escrow should be the only choice, paypal has limited protection for selling ,especially when selling a website.

Escrow.com is the choice of many top domainers as well - they routinely handle 5 & 6 figure transactions.
For that kind of payment, don't look for shortcuts to save a few hundred bucks.
