Recently a girl in my office sumbled across a news website that has pledged a 1 cent donation to charity for every unique visitor. Now the news site itself is well laid out IMO,

I am the type of person that will utilize this news service just because of the donation factor, I personally think its a unique idea as well as benficial to the charities. The only thing I can't figure out is how they are going to make these substantial donations as it appears to me as they only have 1 spot for ad's and that has already been gobbled up by google, And correct me if i'm wrong here but dosnt google pay a minimum price for those ad's or by the click or something.

Who am I to question a good thing maybe i am out of line, But with all due respect to the forum moderaters I hope its ok to post these URL's for a worthy cause. Oh and BTW I emailed them and found out the charity is The American Cancer Society. Good luck to them and I would hope Jim World members would help support charity at no cost to themselves.

But doesn't .01 cent mean 1/10 of a cent?

Yes, that is the amount, not one cent, and that should work out to half a million per year, assuming 50 million unique IP's.

Nice.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't .01 cent would mean 1/100 of a cent, not 1/10th (which would be .1 cent)?

Nice gesture, but if it takes 100 unique hits to donate a single penny... well, it kinda sounds like they're playing on people's sympathies and not really doing much.
