We are looking at various shopping network programs that might help sway skeptical shoppers that our site is safe. So far we have found:
1. BBBOnline
2. Truste.com
3. Scanalert.com
4. Trustgauge.com & validatedsite.com
5. epubliceye.com
6. Safe shopping network
7. Geotrust "true site"

Does anyone here have experience with any of these programs? Would you recommend any of these and alternatively not recommend any of them?

Our site certificate is a Geotrust shared certificate so there is no logo/banner offered with that program. I would consider moving to a different site certificate if it made sense, but our current one works and is paid as part of our hosting fees.

Do you know of any other programs we should consider?

What you get with each one varies quite a bit, as does the price. We want the best bang for the buck and one that is professional.

Thanks for the help.

I think Truste is probably one of the most recognized by consumers.

I think shoppers these days aren't really worried about privacy statements, at least not enough to where you'll see any significant increase in sales because they feel 'safer'.

People might disagree with that statment, but really if you're half way intelligent, you know within reason how to manage sensitive consumer/customer information.

All those companys basically do is give you guidlines to follow so you can self regulate customer info.

Is that going to increase your bottom line? Probably not much. IMO

If you're happy with what you have, save yourself the headache and spend time making small tweaks in your content and see if that will help sales.

Good question. I was listed on Safe Shopping Network for a year, and this is my experience.

Don't waste your money on Safe Shopping Network. Instead of enhancing your online trust value, Safe Shopping Network will harm it. Safe Shopping Network is a unprofessional, shabby operation that only claims to represent "tested, best" websites. The fact is, Safe Shopping Network will take anybody's money! And what you get for Safe Shopping Networks's $300 listing fee and fancy logo is frequent down times, server errors, rediculous Christmas promos in July, and a mere trickle of hits. Potential customers who click to verify your stats (and many do) are left with quite a negative impression of Safe Shopping Networks and, by association, YOUR WEBSITE as well.

The truth is, anybody can take your money and vouch for the safety of your website. The question is: do they have the name value and reputation to sway potential customers to trust you? Safe Shopping Network does not. Stick with the names that most online shoppers already know: BBB and Truste. It will be money well spent.

I also used Safe Shopping Network for one year. Here's what I got from it:

1) On a good day, "maybe" one hit.
2) Attempted automatic renewal and charge of credit card after year was up. I had emailed them several months earlier telling them that I didn't want to renew, but they tried anyway. Can we say "chargeback?"

Basically, it really didn't amount to squat. They had Christmas banners up in May.

If it is a seal you are after, just go get a GeoTrust certificate. For less than what Safe Shopping Network charges, not only will you get a seal, you'll have a security certificate for secure SSL browsing.
