Hello:
I'm new here just today. My partner and I launched a very unique Dating/Cooking/Recipe/Jokes/ and much more Web Site last Wed. the 7th of April.
We already have a substantial database but we are seeking your advice.
Because this is such a unique idea and a powerful concept we thought this group might have some input that could open a window of opportunity for to be successful. New dating sites have a history of going out of business in the first year not unlike most new businesses.
If anyone has any idea they would like to share we would really appreciate it alot. This site has beeen in developement for over a year and deserves the best brains in the bueisness to make a suggestion.
Thank you and because I am new will say that I hope this posting does not violate any of the forum rules.
Interested parties can see our new site [listed in Member Profile]
Warm Regards,
Bobsie

I also own a dating site. Things that worked best for me was search engines and affiliate programs. You should also try to advertise on several small sites that have the audience you are looking for. Smaller sites get overlooked so if you go to them you will be able to get a very low rate in addition to getting some new members.
My #1 suggestion would be search engine advertising if you have the money though. Also, make your site free. Take a look at webdate, they have tons of members and they are still 100% free. When they decide to charge members it would be much easier to get paying customers if they see that there are a lot of people in their area on the site. People aren't going to pay for a dating service when there are only five other members on the site in their area.
If you need any more suggestions or advice let me know and good luck.

Oh, also try to determine your actual member value. This will help in deciding how much you are going to spend in advertising if you are trying to maintain a profit at first. Use google conversation tool if you advertise there to see how much it is costing you for each new member, if it is above what you think each member is worth than make a change.
Of course though, if you are just looking to get a bunch of people no matter what the cost put your member value high. Anything over $3 / member though is high.
