Does anyone have any tips for the cold call? I own a race boat and team and am currently trying to attract new sponsors. Sorry if this is the wrong forum. Thanks in advance for any insight.

From a personal perspective don't call me during dinner time when I'm at home with my family - I hate that most of all. wink

I would say though when you're calling a company make sure you know what it is that you expect from them or what you want and have an idea why its good for that company to get involved. Also make sure to talk to the right person - don't get your spiel out to be transferred to another person.

Introduce yourself, say who you are, what you want and find out who to talk to. Ask if you're calling at an appropriate time - if not arrange a time to call back later. Tell them who you are and what you want. Explain how their company can help and the benefits of being involved. Offer to send them some literature to look over (a brochure or pamphlet) or direct them to your website. Make sure to be polite. Leave a favorable impression along with your contact information and hope for the best. Above all, be nice - if someone doesn't want to talk to you respect that and move on.

My .2 cents. smile
