What's the consus here on buying articles or paying others to write them? Good idea or bad? And how much would you pay?

lee, My response is why would you buy them? What is the benefit to buying?

I have a article site and have a few hundred people who send me articles for free.

    hi beth,

well the idea is that if you pay for them you own them outright and can do as you want with them. article directories are nice but you don't own the content and often times they contain the same articles because of multiple submission by authors.

You can have them reprinted but if you target google you would always want fresh content!

Looks like you're on the path to offering an article writing service....

I will have to admit that this is the first I've heard of a service of this nature. It just might work.

    As to the pricing...

What kind of articles are you looking to offer?

What are your article/customer volume goals per month?

I wouldn't think you would experience any costs from this type of service but you can fill in the blanks.

These are just a few questions I would ask myself. Also you need to be sure and do your homework by going on the net and researching if there are other companies offering the same services. You can get an idea of their pricing plan.

    Hope this is helpful.

I was JUST about to post a website link, but remembered the TOS posted by SportsGuy, so I will not.

I used to be a freelance medical editor, burned out, now I own a growing basket company.

In an attempt to make myself look like the "expert", I tried writing some articles and posting. Problem is, although I can edit the work of, and indeed write for, others, when writing for myself, my works SUCKS (sorry, no other way to put it)!

So, I go to this website, which is a "find a freelancer" type of site, found a lovely writer from Texas, and had her edit and tweak work I had already written.

My "giftophobia" article has been picked up by 60 plus websites in the span of a month, and has been viewed almost 6000 times on the networking website to which I belong.

Of course, I only just placed them on my own site and submitted them to yahoo/google, as I was afraid of a duplicate content issue, so if you look up "giftophobia", it'll probably take you to the networking site, but the important thing is, my name is getting out there, and it looks like *I'M* the expert on my industry, which is VERY CUT-THROAT (see my post on PPC fraud).

As far as cost, if you go to a site where you post a job and have others bid on it, then it will vary.

If anyone is interested in either the networking site I mentioned, or "freelance" site I mentioned, please email me privately. I'm not greedy; I love to share. smile

I hope this is of some help!
