The problem with these type of schemes is that they are able to propogate across the web on the "viral need" of business owners to attract targeted traffic to their sites...and they play off the vanity/ego of "owning" your keyword sector...classic scam
Personally, I would steer clear of these type schemes...one is only going to lose money in the process and much emotional frustration as well...not to mention possible legal expenses... loss in business revenue dealing with the problems associated with these aggressive business people who work these type of schemes...not to mention the stress on your relationships (family, friends) as you come to realize you have been burned...
Tragic really...

What is messed up about their "Plug-in" once they get it on your computer is hard to take it off... Uninstall doesn't remove it.
It's HORRIBLE, they got me to Download it when they cold called me, to SHOW me what it really does.
If anyone knows how to remove keywordnavigator please let me know.

It is sad but many people get taken in by these things. There is no technological way such things are possible without having software installed on the searchers machines(call it spyware, adware whatever). Much of the time the people who have this type of software installed:
a)often didn't realise it was being installed
b)didn't understand how the software would actually work
c)hate the skewed results and struggle to get rid of this junk
Why would anybody want that for searching? Before such software was installed the search results would have been so much better, it is actually a big disservice to the person stuck with this software. In my opinion it would be a very negative way to advertise, and with the expense to set it up, not likely to be a profitable venture for you.
You can thank law makers for allowing companies to install software in a bundle designed to hide this type of program. If you ask all the annoyed people out there bothered with these invasive software programs, none of them would recall a very clear confirmation screen during the install telling them what was being installed, and asking if that user wanted the software.
Usually the information is buried several paragraphs deep into the user license agreement that nobody reads, and it is made to sound very benign and kitten like. Each piece of software in these bundles should by law have it's own install routine in which it fully identified itself, what the software does, and allow for the install to continue without it if the user declined.
I would like the reps for such software programs to come forward and tell people how many people install their programs via bundles, and if it is down through distribution partners. Then I would love to see a step by step screen shot capture of the install process on a customers machine from any potential bundling distribution.
The bottom line out there people is be aware. Ask yourself, does this sound to good to be true when these companies call you. Because it always does I can assure you.
I have seen enough of it and listened to others who have been burned to know that it just isn't worth the money. You would yield a far better ferturn on your money to spend $900 dollars and have a copywriter at least review your copy and make suggestions. Well written content, or copy, is so much better than such gimmics. Sorry to hear about your loses, your stories will help others so at least some good comes about.

This pitch has been aroudn forever... and it keeps cycling back agai..... regardless of he name of the company, or the reseller's name... or how the software is downloaded... or how it is installed... or any of hte other lies and deceit used....
In the end.... you have o realize how this process works. The only way someone would see your listing is if they install the software..... logically....
So how does someone install the software? Hmmm.... well with 15 million peopel who have downloaded it... wouldnt'you think you would have at leat HEARD of these companies before?
I jsut id a search on download.com for adobe and their top product has a total of 1.3 million.... lass than a tenth of what these companies claim... and I know I;'e heard of download.com... and Adobe - how about you?
The software is typically bundlded within another software download (that hte custoemr wanted)... or is installed automatically in the form of adaware/spyware/whatever you call it.
"so what... if 15 million peopel have this software on their computers.... what do I care? Its only $XXX for these keywords to be at the top".... sounds like the right train of thought.
Bu think logically. Why would their keywords be the same price? Does PPC through OVerture/Google/etc work on a flat rate regardless of the industry, or profits involved? It would be like buying real estate world wide for the same flat price.... what a dream. On the flip, if everythign was the same price, why wouldn't I go out and buy all of the top search words that people pay big bucks for.... create pages with some Adsense code on them, and make money?
...Because it doesn't work.
This is real important....
I've even read up on posts telling that the hits sent out are completely bogus - take a look at this post regarding redzee
www.seomoz.org/blogdetail.php?ID=465
Seems to make sense - you pay them... they use bots to send fake "hits" to your site , that never do anything... and then tell you its not their fault that hte peopel didnt do anythign on your site.... they delivered their part....
Ahh enough ranting - I gotta get back to work...
