Hi all,
I am new to the SEM world so please bear with me. I have recently launched a website for a software program I wrote. My software gives odds and statistics to online poker players while they play.
Now, I understand that YSM and Google have both said they will not carry online gambling ads. However, there are several sponsored searches for other products similar to mine in YSM. Therefore I attempted to sign up with YSM. All of my keywords were rejected citing "Gambling URL" as the reason. I decided to call up YSM and ask why my site was rejected but similar sites were not. The lady was nice, but did not give me a reason and then told me she would put my request up for a "Secondary Evaluation". I received an email in a few hours saying that YSM must stand by their initial rejection of my site.
I would not have a problem with this if several of my direct competitors were not promoting through YSM. This will be a tough hurdle to overcome if they have access and I don't. So my question is: "Is it possible for my site to get listed?"
If the answer is no, do you think it would be my right to put pressure on YSM and try to get my competitor's ads rejected as well? I would love to use SEM, but if I can't, I don't want my competitor's using it either.
Thanks,
KC

They are in because they probabily entered before all the anti-gambling/pharmacy industry rules started aplying to the major PPCs, and they were never kicked out. I had a few sites which are in because they were aproved before the policy change.
"Is it possible for my site to get listed?" Same posibilities as getting struck by lightening. I'm sure an editor or two have gotten drunk and screwed up, allowing a gambling site in, or they may be associated, but that doesn't happen often.

You could. But those competitors may have family, children that depend on them, do you really want it on your concience that they are living a worse life because of you? I wouldn't do it, I think it is bad Karma. But I am sure there are plenty of people that dissagree with me.
BTW, I don't only say that because I had some sites in.

Maybe you could promote your program by asking sites where people play poker online to offer it for a percentage of the profit?
