    Hi there,

Maybe one of you guys knows the answer to this.

I'm creating some software that will act sort of like a browser. I want to add a rudimentary content control feature.

That is, I'd like parents to be able to at least filter out some of the most obvious adult content pages.

I know about the PICS lables, but is there anything else out there like it?

I don't want to have to analyze the whole page. If I can just have our software look for certain things in the meta tags, it will be easy.

Anyone have any advice on setting up a list of rules for this?

    Thanks!

    Grace

well, you could have it look for certain words within the keywords/description/title tags - but that definitely won't be fool proof as those generally do not accurately reflect the content.

Most find it's easier to do the reverse of what you are talking about, only show sites with the PICS lable (or similar, i believe there are a few) when 'safe search' is chosen.
