I have never seen this topic before in any forum...

I get the same Ip pounding a page each time I take over the top positions in the serps, same SE same IP same search term = I block the IP after 3! eek

Anyone else see the invasion force hit after you win a term? scarry freaky stuff!

I have seen this over and over but never have seen a thread about it - lets talk invasion tactics - I do it, you do it but what about when you get observed in detail? how do you feel?

Ill tell you how I feel...

I feel like bring it, here I am what are you gunna do? I show up bullet-proof.. No SE violations, in prediction of some punk wanting to turn me in for violation of SE rules.

Come on share whatever you have on this topic... Dont you feel the bulls eye on your forehead?

My stats have not updated 100% but so far I know this guy checked out my robots.txt and he typed in a random image name so he could see my 404.

This happened last night a few hours after MSN put me at #1 & Yahoo! put me at #3 for a commercial term.

Some of these search terms are so prized - I feel like the seach engine mafia is going to show up at the door smile

What do you mean exactly by "pounding in"? How many hits? How many MB or GB?

Pongo, sorry but I don't know what are you talking about. It looks that you are talking with yourself. For example see your following quote:

My stats have not updated 100% but so far I know this guy checked out my robots.txt and he typed in a random image name so he could see my 404.

Which guy checked out your robots.txt? Why he does so? What is the relation between robots.txt file and 404? Why is he typed wrong image name to see 404? What it has to do with your SE ranking? Where he typed that name.., in some SE's search box or browser address bar?

aww now Pongo - don't run away smile Yes, I understand what you are saying - the competition gets all over your site and you know they are checking every move!

If you feel that they have malicious intent then you do need to watch for odd behaviour in your stats...I've had folks hammer my sites too - stats spike like crazy and it is freaky to watch...

Thanks excell for clearing up. Now I can see what Pongo was talking about. It happens all the time with my sites. I don't know how we can stop these spiders/softwares. I tried robots.txt but no use.

and if one moves to ban an ISP it could be that they might block out a whole section of the web that is innocent.. so yes it is a disturbing matter.
