Usually you need to wait about 3-4 weeks to get your site indexed by google crawlers, but there is one simple tip for getting your site crawled within 30 minutes.

I'm going to try this right now on my test domain. The domain has never been linked to or crawled before.
Watch this space.

This is probably the "Sign up for Adsense" and your site will be crawled faster theory.
The Adsense crawler is not supposed to be the same as the normal googlebot.
Get a link from any site that is crawled daily (or more often) to any page on your site, and it will be quickly crawled by the normal googlebot.
In any event, crawling and having your pages in the indexes is only the start. They then have to rank reasonably well. And getting out of the Google sandbox is not proving easy for new sites.

my test site doesn't appear in Google's cache as yet.
I'm not sure that Googlebot will need to crawl my site to check for pertinent content as the code displays random public service notices. Mainly charities.
I'll leave it for another couple of days.

Google boat visited to site generally within 3 days.
As I can see this by checking changes made with my site, displayed by clicking url within google.
But this is only possible (as in my case) when your site already indexed by Google.

If your site is already indexed by Google, Googlebot will visit regularly anyway!

For the last few months many directories and fake directories clog the top results of most searches.
Most unhelpful.

Whats OAC said is correct,
This is probably the "Sign up for Adsense" and your site will be crawled faster theory. I haven't been crawled until I signed up for adsense and since I signed up for Adwords.

I find my site gets crawled daily by google. I don't often make new sites but I imagine if I did I'd just link it and google would pick it up

Yep. The best way to get crawled is by already being indexed, or getting your links on top ranked websites. Meta-Tags also help, from what I have heard, but i don't see a big difference. It is also helpful to have more content on your pages, not just a click thru site.
