Hi all! I'm relatively new to SEO and my website may be crude to the standards of some, but it's come a long way. We were originally hosting with another host but switched in September and completely redid the website. Now, when I run page optimization it tells me that my home page is redirected. I've changed things around now as I've tried to work on this so I'm not sure if it's redirected or not, or if it is how to fix it. The main url is www.kompu-tech.com and I'm afraid to post links in here. sad I'm just now joining so if someone could please help and advise. I really did read the rules. LOL

Get the Live HTTP Headers extension for Mozilla Seamonkey or for Firefox and it will show you what is going on.

Alternatively, try WebBug but do make sure that you use the HTTP/1.1 option when you check your site.

Ok, this is what WebBug says. Can someone please help me interpret?

HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0

X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
Pragma: No-Cache
location: Home.html
Expires: Sun, 26 Dec 1999 01:01:01 GMT
Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Connection: Close
cache-control: No-Cache, no-store, must-revalidate

This is what it says now:

Code: [copy]

The most important thing is the status code returned from the server - 302 Moved Temporarily.
It shows the new target destination -> Remote_Support_Solutions.html

Other than this the server tells you what server software it is running and the status of the cache control. This may have been added by the proxy in between.

Most search engines would be wary of a 302 redirection.

Redirecting the root URL of a site to somewhere else is usually a bad idea.

Using a 302 redirect for almost anything is usually also not a good idea.
