Hi,
I recently created a website for a company. Half way through the job the changed their name (due to another company with a bad reputation having the same name), so the domain had to change. It was then set up so that when people visited the old domain, they would be automatically forwarded to the new one.
That was a couple of months ago. The company has now said they need all reference to the old company removing as they want no connection with that name.
The problem now, is that when you type www.oldcompanyname.co.uk (NOT the real address!) into google, the link is there to the new company - therefore linking the two.
My client has asked me to remove this link from google completely. Any ideas of how I can do this?
Hope the above made sense. I know not many people will be typing the whole website address into google, but my client is worried about the risk. I hope you understand why i havent given links to the companys name here!
Any help greatly appreciated!!

I would get rid of the redirect and leave a holding page explaining that there is no connection to the "bad" company.

If you're looking for a way to contact G and ask them to remove it, sorry to say that doesn't happen.
I'll take time, but the old domain will be removed by G on heir own - there's little you, or anyone, can do to speed it up.
Hampsteads advice is good, and if they own the domain, be sure to keep it (the old one), so they can be sure it's truly dead and they control it.

The website removal tool will royally screw up if it is working with URLs that redirect.
Both the old URL and the new URL will be taken out of the index for at least 6 months.
The URLs which redirect are probably currently being shown as Supplemental Results.
Google has a process to clear those up some 6 to 12 months after the URL changes to being a redirect.
They may well clear them up sooner if they all returned a "404" status in the HTTP header.
