Does anyone know how blogs and regular websites are arranged hierarchically in search engines? Let me give an example. I search for "Mickey Mouse" in blogsearch, it shows me a bunch of blogs with that content. I search for "Mickey Mouse" in websearch, it shows me regular websites AS WELL AS, potentially, some blogs. But, are ALL the blogs indexed on blog search indexed in the regular websearch as well? If not, what decides what gets included and what doesn't? A convoluted question, but I'm curious...might have to optimize a few blogs in the future.

google bases the hierarchically on the sites source and content, noone knows fully how google gets its results fully and both the blogs and the websites are indexed the same but in different algothrim i suppose.

There's no reason a blog won't appear in regular search - except that most blog pages rank very poorly.

Even 'successful' blogs rarely seem to get beyond the current main content - and blogs that are not regularly updated don't often achieve that.

I'm certainly no expert in blog seo, but I suspect you'll need to include:

    1. regular additions to content.

    2. minimise the duplicate URLs so loved by blog software designers

    3. get links to fixed content-based URLs, not just the front page.

But I may be utterly wrong ... anyone got better idea?
