I just got my web site up and running. After a couple of weeks I can see that a few robots have visited my site, very few people though.

What I hope to hear from you is: What are the most proven, effective, and efficient steps that I can take now to drive people to my web site? And one more thing, I don't want to spend any money doing it.

Thank you for your response. I certainly will read this forum.

What I have done to date is put meta Keywords and Description at the head of my HTML.

I also put a YouTube video player on one of my pages in hopes that YouTube will list me as a link on their pages.

I also would like to put a Google Stock Market ticker on one of my pages in hopes that will somehow advance my search engine ranking.

At this point my most important question would be: What is the one web site that I could go to, to submit my URL, for free, that would have the most effect?

You don't need to submit your url anywhere. Google and others will crawl your site automatically.

Content is always king, and you'll be ranked according to your content and relevance. Make sure those count in your favor. Study up on keyword density, don't use any "black hat" tactics.

to put google stock ticker wont do you any good for SEO and when YOuTube's links are nofollow so its not rally useful linking except that google crawls youtube a lot so if you put in the right title and so your video can end up high on the google's results, if you wanna submit your site somewhere try to write good unique content articles and submit them to artick directories or try social marketing

Google Webmaster Guidelins is a good place to start out.

You can catch up on details through various materials available throughout the web, including SEF.

Overall...follow common sense...and serve the people, not the product/service to people.

If you have to ask yourself whether something you are about to do is right or wrong...it, most likely, is wrong smile Point being...you can pass good judgment for many things simply asking yourself.

Using Google stock ticker as an example...would you have done it if it weren't for SEO effort? Would Google stock ticker bring values to your prospects/customers? Did Google stock ticker bring synergy to your business model?

    Best wishes!

Edit: removed a couple of smiley faces...i tend to get smiley happy...
