I am lost. If anyone out there can make sense of this I will be very happy! I will make this as simple as possible.

    SiteABC.com needed to be optimized.

SO, found the perfect phrase, did some optimization, and 3 weeks later, saw amazing results. #1 in MSN, #3 in Yahoo, and #5 in Google.

According to the "Search Inventory Tool" at Overture, this phrase had 33,280 searches in the Month of July. This all sounds great until we check the actual traffic generated....

A whopping 12 Searchers found the site in July.

SOOoo, if there were 33,000+ searches, how is it possible that with such good rankings, only 12 people found the site? This is driving me crazy!

BTW: of those 12 searches that found the site, 6 were Google, 0 Yahoo, 5 MSN, 1 AOL.

Has anyone noticed Overture Term Suggestion Tool to be way out to lunch?

    Thanks in advance.

This is typical, just cause a phrase is searched a certain number of times never means you will get a certain percentage of the traffic even with top rankings.

I have top rankings for certain phrases also that don't nearly get the traffic they should based on search freguencies.

I can fully understand that percentages vary, but to get 12/33,000, that is insanely low. (.036%). Even on the low end, being in the top 5 on Google, I would expect to see at least 1% (or 330 visits). 12 seems abnormally low.
