Yahoo's old linkback number was 665,000. WWW2 & 3 are now showing 642,000. You heard it here first from a complete novice. (Pats self on back very heartily!!)
It began about midnight Central Time (USA) on January 25.
[Added by OAC. Well done in being first.
Guys - this can be the official January 2003 Google Dance thread. Please do not start other threads about the Google dance (they will just be deleted). Thanks. OAC]

I'm seeing a shift on all the keywords I watch, and a site that I took down for a month is back in the index that I see on www2.

If the dance has begun, then the guy who played the banjo in "Deliverance" configured the new algo...

I am new to this so I apologize if this is well-known, but how long can this "process" take... hours?... days?... weeks? ...forever?

you will see an update thread establish when it is done. Few days..
It's not "updated" until it settles after the dance and then there is an in between bit and then we do it all again.

This is the most spam-friendly algorithm to date. I'm now burried 7 pages deap in a sea of cloaking, doorways and even dead links. Well, if you can't beat 'em... join 'em. Any forums to learn good spamming techniques? Way to go Google, you've corrupted an honest webmaster.

Ive got to say that Im really happy so far with the results, going from ranking 35 and 37 on my two key terms, to ranking 3rd and 2nd respectively. Cant beat that with a bat. I think Im going to send Google a thank you card.

Some keywords that I'm interested in are currently deluged with spam.
"online casino review" is a prime example.
http://www2.google.com/search?hl=sv&ie=ISO-8859-1&safe=off&q=online+casino+review
18 out of the first 20 results, including the entire first page, are the same outfit redirecting to the same site. We can only hope that this won't be the case when the Google dance is over.
